Climate change toolkit
EIRIS' Climate Change Toolkit is designed to help investors assess their portfolios and design investment strategies in response to the challenge of a carbon constrained economy
Identifying risk, maximisng opportunities
Investors rank climate change as one of the most financially significant environmental issues facing companies today. But the lack of good data from Companies make it hard for investors to assess their exposure and press for the progress they want. So many investors are seeking better disclosure. But that still leaves the question of how best to use the data currently available.
EIRIS has developed a comprehensive solution: three tools to help investors assess their portfolios and design investment strategies in response to the challenge of a carbon constrained economy: Carbon Profile, Carbon Engager, Carbon Risk Factor
Developed with feedback from investors and input from environmental NGOs and companies, each tool is based on EIRIS’ detailed and robust research methodology and is designed to support a variety of responsible investment approaches:
EIRIS Climate Change Toolkit
1) Tools for Risk Screening
Carbon Profile – compares the carbon performance of a portfolio with an index or benchmark of your choice. It helps you quantify that performance. Our assessment of performance combines a measure of carbon footprint with an analysis of what company management is doing to mitigate climate change risk.
2) Tools for Engagement
Carbon Engager – provides a detailed report on company performance and best practice examples on relevant climate change KPIs to support a variety of engagement approaches.
The carbon engager identifies:
- Companies most exposed to climate change concerns and the steps they need to take to reduce risks
- Best practice companies that can reinforce good performance
3) Tools for Integration
Carbon Risk Factor - quantifies a companies climate change impact with management response to give an overall climate risk rating. The rating covers all companies in the FTSE All World Developed Index (3,000), enabling investors to quantify climate change risk across all sectors.
