Ethical Portfolio Manager - EIRIS SRI software
Clients can access EIRIS’ extensive company research using its unique software tool, Ethical Portfolio Manager (EPM). EPM allows investors to develop and implement socially responsible investment policies and can be used for engaging with companies, screening portfolios or selecting shares using a preference or best in class approach.
Institutional investors can use Ethical Portfolio Manager directly or through their fund managers to ensure that their investments are in accordance with their ethical policy. They can screen their investment universe according to their policy or use the research information to lobby companies to improve their policies or practices.
Ethical Portfolio Manager cuts through the complexity of researching the social, environmental and ethical performance of companies and provides you with the information that you need to make well-informed investment decisions. It helps you to analyse companies according to a wide range of social and environmental factors and allows you to experiment with different benchmarks, so that you immediately see the effects on your investment universe. Company information is updated weekly and easily accessed via the web.
The software assists in the decision-making process and provides easily accessed performance information on over 2,600 companies in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
EPM enables you to choose your analytical framework – as simple or sophisticated as you like. You also select the companies and sectors to examine and the ethical, social and environmental criteria to apply. You can select and monitor stocks based on different ethical policies for different funds but monitor them all with the same software. You can assess companies against negative and positive criteria, excluding those in certain fields or selecting others on "best of class" grounds. You can also incorporate your own in-house research. Having constructed your model universe you can then monitor its performance against your chosen financial benchmark.

Corporate Ethics Overview
Corporate Ethics Overview is a digest of news stories that focuses on business involvement in social and environmental issues. Its scope is much broader than the EIRIS research areas and each story is complemented with "EIRIS Notes" - expert comments from EIRIS researchers that alert readers to issues where they may affect corporate risk and reputation.
Coverage has included shareholder action at AGMs and shareholder resolutions, criticism of train operators by regulators and corporate policies on genetic engineering. International issues also include controversy over drug companies’ actions in the Third World, developments in the controversial Ilisu dam project, and environmental controversies surrounding oil and gas exploration projects.
An annual subscription to Corporate Ethics Overview, published ten times a year, costs £400 per annum (£200 for registered charities). Corporate Ethics Overview is complimentary to Ethical Portfolio Manager clients. For further information on Corporate Ethics Overview please contact Scott McAusland on 020 7840 5703 or e-mail him at scott.mcausland@eiris.org.
