Ethical Portfolio Manager
Ethical Portfolio Manager is a software product which provides a practical
research tool specifically designed to simplify investing according to a
responsible investment policy. It allows you to access our research information on
the social, environmental and ethical performance of companies.
Institutional investors can use Ethical Portfolio Managers directly or through
their fund managers to ensure that their investments are in accordance with
their responsible investment policy. They can screen their investment universe according to
their policy or use the research information to lobby companies to improve their
policies or practices.
Ethical Portfolio Manager cuts through the complexity of researching the social,
environmental, governance and other ethical performance of companies and provides you with the
information that you need to make well-informed investment decisions. It helps
you to analyse companies according to a wide range of
factors and allows you to experiment with different benchmarks, so that you
immediately see the effects on your investment universe. Company information is
updated weekly and easily via the web.
The software assists in the decision-making process and provides easily accessed
performance information on over 2,800 companies in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific
region available in Ethical
Portfolio Manager (EPM).
EPM enables you to choose your analytical framework – as simple or sophisticated
as you like. You also select the companies and sectors to examine and the
ethical, social and environmental criteria to apply. You can select and monitor
stocks based on different responsible investment policies for different funds but monitor them
all with the same software. You can assess companies against negative and
positive criteria, excluding those in certain fields or selecting others on
"best of class" grounds. You can also incorporate your own in-house research.
Having constructed your model universe you can then monitor its performance
against your chosen financial benchmark.

Convention Watch enables
investors to identify allegations of company breaches of the spirit of major international conventions on human
rights, labour standards, the environment, corruption and landmines.
Convention Watch uses the UN Global Compact as a framework. It can be used to
see whether companies are complying with the most important principles enshrined
by international conventions
including the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the UN Convention
on Corruption, the UN Human Rights Norms for Business, International Labour Organisation standards, the
Kyoto and Montreal Protocols, the Convention on Biological Biodiversity and the Ottawa Convention on anti-personnel
landmines.
Full reports on companies’ adherence to the conventions are provided, taking
into account responses from the companies concerned, with assessments by EIRIS’
team of professional research analysts as to how companies have dealt with the
alleged breaches. Convention Watch is available through EIRIS’ unique software
product Ethical Portfolio Manager or in report format; the research is updated quarterly.

indices, corruption perception and convention ratification, for 64 countries
worldwide, including key emerging markets. The data can be manipulated by
the users with their own views and weightings for particular issues to give the
investor a bespoke rating, ranking and profile for each country.

Corporate Ethics Overview
Corporate Ethics Overview is a regular digest of news stories that focuses on
business involvement in social and environmental issues. Its scope is much
broader than the EIRIS research areas and many stories are complemented with
