EIRIS Council

The Council is the governing body of EIRIS. It meets quarterly and oversees the work of the EIRIS Foundation and its wholly owned commercial subsidiary Ethical Investment Research Services (EIRIS) Ltd.

Alastair Hanton (Chair of the EIRIS Foundation) is a former Deputy Managing Director of Girobank and has for a number of years served as a director or adviser to a number of NGOs concerned with development, fair trade and environmental transport including Christian Aid, the Fairtrade Foundation and the Campaign for Better Transport.

Sally Britton (Chair of the EIRIS Board) is an organisation consultant specialising in corporate responsibility, change management, strategic planning and training, working with both businesses and not-for-profit organisations. Formerly a director of TwentyFifty Ltd, a consultancy advising a range of companies on human rights and related issues, Sally is now an independent consultant in the same field.

John O’Reilly formerly worked for BP in areas where human rights were a significant corporate responsibility issue, and since retiring from that role has worked with the Amnesty Business Group in promoting a discussion of the best ways in which businesses can address their human rights responsibilities.

Yvonne Perry is a senior manager, campaigner and policy specialist. Yvonne has an extensive employment relations and change management record in self-financing, not-for-profit and membership organisations, including the Industrial Society/Work Foundation and the CBI.

Danyal Sattar is Head of Environment for the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, a grant-making trust. He previously worked for Charity Bank and before that in Brussels for INAISE, a network of social banks, and in the UK for a range of organisations including the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance association (UKSIF), Aston Reinvestment Trust and the New Economics Foundation (nef).

Bill Seddon is Chief Executive of the Central Finance Board of the Methodist Church and of Epworth Investment Management which follows a similar approach to responsible investment. He is a member of the Methodist Church Joint Advisory Committee of the Ethics of Investment and responsible for carrying out its recommendations. Bill has also been a committee member of the Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change and of the Ecumenical Committee of Corporate Responsibility (ECCR).

Elizabeth Stamp worked for the Economist for a number of years and more recently for Oxfam in a variety of capacities which included addressing the question of responsible investment whilst serving as a trustee of the Oxfam pension scheme.
